Mission, Vision & Values
Children, young people and families are at the heart of our work.
Since 1968, SOS Kannerduerf Lëtzebuerg (SOS Children's Village Luxembourg) has been an actor in childcare in Luxembourg and is recognised by the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth.
Our mission
Our mission is to accompany each child and young person cared for by us as they move towards an independent, responsible and fulfilling future. We support them with structures that we design according to their individual situations and their needs.
At the stationary level (residential care facilities), we offer them the possibility to grow up in security and on the basis of stable and reliable relationships, temporarily or for a longer period. We provide a warm, family-like environment, whether in an SOS Children's Village family or in any other suitable accommodation.
On an ambulatory level, we offer various care and counselling services across the country, dedicated to children and young people, their families and foster families.
We train professionals who work with children, young people and their families.
In partnership with the others in the Luxembourg childcare sector , we are committed to the wellbeing of children, and we design and implement projectswith their futures in mind.
Our vision
Every child needs affection, respect and attention in order to develop and build a successful life.
We adhere to the vision that every child has the right to grow and develop in a protective and respectful family environment. This environment should encourage them to develop and fulfil their individual potential in life. This is why we stand by children and young people who need support in the short and long term.
Our values
SOS Children's Village Luxembourg was founded on fundamental beliefs that are the foundation of our success. In order to achieve our mission, the following values guide our actions, our decisions and our relationships:
We dare to question ourselves constantly. Our roots are our strength; they give us the determination and strength to innovate, to constantly adapt our services and concepts. We will continue to question ourselves, to challenge, to learn and to imagine solutions, in order to better serve the children and young people in our care.
We are committed to creating opportunities and prospects for young people. It is a commitment that drives us to invest in strong and lasting relationships with our colleagues, partners, donors and the community of which we are a part. We give a voice to children, youth and families. We advocate for their rights with relevant stakeholders.
We are confident in our skills and abilities, and we continue to develop them. We are committed to building trust and cooperation within our organisations, through our staff, management and board, so that everyone feels respected, supported and encouraged. This trust allows us to share our experiences, learn from each other and move forward together.
We are part of a renowned international network. Since 1968 we have been a reliable partner for children, families, donors, the government and child care actors in Luxembourg. We are committed to honouring this trust by aiming for the highest possible quality of service and by managing our resources in a responsible and sustainable manner.
